George Stroemple, Chairman of the Board
President, TransPacific Export, LLC

George Stroemple is the Chairman of the Board and the Founder of PacStar. Mr. Stroemple is also the Managing Partner and Founder of TransPacific Export, LLC, an Oregon-based company that specializes in the export of construction materials throughout the Pacific Rim. As the Managing Partner of TransPacific Export, LLC, Mr. Stroemple has led overseas business development for PacStar as well as other spin-off companies. In addition to Mr. Stroemple’s business interests, he is recognized in Oregon for his philanthropy and serves on numerous boards and foundations. Mr. Stroemple attended Oregon State University where he majored in International Business and served in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Robert Frisbee, Board Member
Chief Executive Officer, PacStar

Robert Frisbee joined PacStar in April 2000 to provide executive leadership, strategic planning, and organizational development expertise. Before joining PacStar, Mr. Frisbee was the founder and chief operating officer of FirstPointe Communications, a fiber-optic-based telecommunications company with revenues exceeding $150 million the fist year. Prior to that, he was a founding officer (vice president of sales, marketing, and business development) of Electric Lightwave, a competitive local exchange company that attained revenues of over $100 million per year, and completed a public offering in 1996. Mr. Frisbee was also a founding officer (vice president of business development) of American Network, an early entrant in competitive services for long distance telecommunications. American Network attained annual revenues of approximately $100 million, and successfully completed an IPO in 1984. Mr. Frisbee received a bachelor’s degree with honors and a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University, where he specialized in international telecommunications policy.

Steve Boutelle, Board Member
Vice President of Global Government Solutions, Cisco Systems

Lt. Gen. Boutelle, U.S. Army (Ret) is Vice President of the Global Government Solutions Group (GGSG) at Cisco Systems, which advises government customers on business practices and technology solutions to achieve and enhance their mission goals.  Before joining Cisco, Boutelle served as the Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Army, responsible for the Service’s worldwide use of information technology.  He introduced converged voice, data and video to the Army, building an enhanced network infrastructure to serve 1.9 million users.  His career in the U.S. Army is marked by a consistent record of driving the adoption of new technologies and streamlining processes to improve productivity and enhance collaboration.  Boutelle has received numerous industry citations for his leadership, including as a “Top 100 CIO” by Federal Computer Week in 2006; the “North American Leadership Award” by Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association — Rocky Mountains in 2006; and as “US Department of Defense Executive of the Year” by Government Computer News in 2005.  Lt. Gen Boutelle received a bachelor’s degree with honors in business from the University of Puget Sound, an M.B.A. from Marymount University, and an honorary Doctors of Law from the University of Puget Sound.  He is also a graduate of the Army’s Senior Service College and the US Department of Defense System Management College.

Francis Jungers, Board Member
Former CEO and Chairman of the Board, Aramco

Frank Jungers was employed by the Arabian American Oil Company, the largest producer of crude and liquefied gas in the world, from 1947 through 1978. Headquartered in Saudi Arabia, Aramco holds the concession for all of Saudi Arabia’s oil production. With a background in engineering, Mr. Jungers held several managerial positions in the organization before being named as the Company’s CEO and Chairman. Since his retirement from Aramco, Mr. Jungers has been an independent investor, consultant and board member for several years. He has served as a director of AES Corporation, Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Thermo Electron Corporation, Thermo Eckotek Corporation, Thermo Instrument Systems, Inc. Esco Corporation. In addition, Mr. Jungers is an advisory director of Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette Securities and is Chairman of the Advisory Board of Common Sense Partners, LP, a “fund of funds,” located in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Jungers is a graduate BSME of the University of Washington, attended the Harvard Advanced Management Program and completed one year of graduate work at the Middle East Institute for Arabic Studies.

Charlie Kemper, Board Member
Principal, Steelpoint Capital Partners LP

Charlie Kemper is an experienced entrepreneur and investment professional. Prior to joining Steelpoint, Mr. Kemper was engaged as an advisor by several private equity firms and technology companies. Previously, he was a founding member of the Darby Technology Ventures Group, a venture capital group led by former U.S. Secretary of Treasury Nicholas Brady, Comcast, IBM, and Bechtel. Mr. Kemper has also held finance responsibilities for Product Development of the Explorer Vehicle Line within Ford Motor Company. Prior to Ford, he was Co-Founder and Managing Member of a new media consulting firm focusing on Internet design and ecommerce services. Previously, he has worked with Avalanche Systems (acquired by Razorfish) and Ameritech (now AT&T). He is a Founding Advisor to the Hispanic Alliance for Progress and an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at George Mason University. Mr. Kemper holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University

Matthew M. McCooe, Board Member
Founding Managing Partner, Chart Venture Partners (CVP)

Matt McCooe joined CVP at its inception, coming from Columbia University Science and Technology Ventures (STV) where he managed a portfolio of spinout companies and the deployment of STV's highly profitable seed fund. During his tenure at Columbia, eleven portfolio companies went public or were acquired by publicly traded companies. Prior to Columbia, Mr. McCooe led two startup operations, both of which reached revenues in excess of $125MM and were acquired. In 1998, Mr. MCooe co-founded Eureka Networks, a communications and application software organization. Earlier in his career, he managed product development, sales and marketing, and new product roll-outs for two Fortune 500 companies, Becton Dickinson and MCI. As a national sales leader at MCI, he rose to become marketing manager, launching MCI's flagship voice and data products for Avantel, the company’s start-up joint venture in Latin America. At CVP, Mr. McCooe focuses on early stage investments in communications, software and robotics. He represents CVP on the Board of RemoteReality, StackSafe and PacStar. Mr. McCooe earned an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a BA from Boston College. Mr. McCooe also serves on Columbia’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Advisory Board, and as an SBIR reviewer for the National Science Foundation.

Dennis P. Weston, Board Member
Senior Managing Director, Fluke Venture Partners

Denny Weston is Senior Managing Director of Fluke Venture Partners, a venture capital fund focusing on early-stage, high growth companies in the Pacific Northwest. FVP’s primary areas of interest include information technology, communications and wireless, life sciences and specialty retail. Mr. Weston currently serves on the boards of Isothermal Systems Research, Inc., PacStar, PayScale, Inc. and Carena, Inc. and has served extensively on the boards of many for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Weston earned his BA in Accounting from Central Washington University, where he was named the 1996 Distinguished Alumni for the College of Business, and his MBA, with honors, from the University Of Washington Graduate School Of Business where he received the Outstanding Entrepreneurial Leadership Award in 2004.
