George Stroemple, Chairman of the Board
President, TransPacific Export, LLC

George Stroemple is the Chairman of the Board and the Founder of PacStar. Mr. Stroemple is also the Managing Partner and Founder of TransPacific Export, LLC, an Oregon-based company that specializes in the export of construction materials throughout the Pacific Rim. As the Managing Partner of TransPacific Export, LLC, Mr. Stroemple has led overseas business development for PacStar as well as other spin-off companies. In addition to Mr. Stroemple’s business interests, he is recognized in Oregon for his philanthropy and serves on numerous boards and foundations.

Mr. Stroemple attended Oregon State University where he majored in International Business and served in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Robert Frisbee, Chief Executive Officer

Robert Frisbee joined PacStar in April 2000 to provide executive leadership, strategic planning, and organizational development expertise. Mr. Frisbee has more than 30 years of senior executive experience in conceiving, implementing, and managing successful large-scale initiatives in the telecommunications sector.

Before joining PacStar, Mr. Frisbee was the founder and chief operating officer of FirstPointe Communications, a fiber-optic-based telecommunications company with revenues exceeding $150 million the first year. Prior to that, he was a founding officer (vice president of sales, marketing, and business development) of Electric Lightwave, a competitive local exchange company that attained revenues of over $100 million per year, and completed a public offering in 1996. Mr. Frisbee was also a founding officer (vice president of business development) of American Network, an early entrant in competitive services for long distance telecommunications. American Network attained annual revenues of approximately $100 million, and successfully completed an IPO in 1984.

Mr. Frisbee holds an MA in public administration from Harvard University, where he specialized in international telecommunications policy, and a BA with honors.

Bob Dunn, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Bob Dunn joined PacStar in October of 2007 and with over 20 years of experience in the communications industry.

In his most recent role, Mr. Dunn was President of Nortel Government Systems, with responsibility for all Nortel sales to the US Federal Government.  Prior to this position, he was the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Nortel Government Solutions with responsibility for all secure business initiatives, including services, operations and program management. 

Mr. Dunn has a strong history of key contributions throughout his career at Nortel Networks. He led the Metromedia Fiber team which was responsible for deploying the most extensive long haul optical network in the U.S. and Europe, took on an active role in many debt restructurings that saved Nortel Networks millions of dollars in revenue, and assisted in the realignment of Nortel Networks Federal Solutions. He had responsibility for strategic initiatives which included: JITC certification, IA testing, Foreign Military Procurements, and DHS architecture analysis.  Mr. Dunn has held numerous business development and management roles for NYNEX, Northern Telecom, Bell Atlantic and Nortel Networks.

Mr. Dunn holds a BS in business from Boston College School of Management.

Charlie Kawasaki, Chief Technical Officer

Charlie Kawasaki joined PacStar in early 2005 to lead the development of the company’s proprietary product line. Mr. Kawasaki has extensive experience in product development, software engineering, technology licensing, patent development, business development, product marketing, general management, and M&A.

Previously, through Software Diligence Services, LLC, Mr. Kawasaki provided product development and general management consulting primarily to early stage companies. As founder and past executive director of the Regional Alliances for Infrastructure and Network Security (RAINS), he gained extensive exposure to the homeland security technology video surveillance and internet infrastructure industry. Mr. Kawasaki has created dozens of commercial software packages in such industries as Internet infrastructure, multimedia CD-ROM and multimedia authoring, software utilities, and relational databases. He has founded companies, been involved in 7 fundraisings, completed 3 successful M&A transactions, and been directly involved in more than 10 patent filings. Prior operating roles include the CEO of RuleSpace, Inc., which created world-leading technology for Internet parental controls applications that are used by companies such as AOL, Yahoo, SBC, BellSouth, and Microsoft. Before RuleSpace, he held product development and engineering management roles at The Palace, Inc., Creative Multimedia Corp., Central Point Software, Inc., Asymetrix Corp., and Microrim, Inc.

Laura Kubisiak, Vice President of Marketing

Laura Kubisiak joined PacStar in 2005 to lead the marketing efforts and re-brand the company. She has extensive experience in marketing and general management at companies ranging from start-up to the Fortune 500. In domestic and international markets, she has led strategic and tactical marketing and sales efforts for technology-based products and services. Ms. Kubisiak has worked in a broad range of industries, including digital imaging, healthcare, photography, printing and petrochemicals.

Most recently, she was the director of corporate marketing and global sales operations at Planar Systems. At Planar, she re-branded the entire company, championed new business initiatives, and built a strong global marketing and sales operations team. Prior to coming to Portland, Ms. Kubisiak was general manager and vice president at Kodak with profit and loss responsibility for a $180 million regional market.

Ms. Kubisiak holds an MBA from Stanford University, and a BS in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.

Peggy Miller, Chief Financial Officer

Peggy Miller joined PacStar in October 2007.  She has an established record of building businesses and strengthening finances through a series of executive-level management positions and is a highly experienced financial professional.

She joins PacStar from her most recent position as a partner with Tatum, LLC, where she provided strategic financial consulting services to a variety of companies.  Peggy has served in a variety of companies including as CEO of privately held Astoria-Pacific International, President of Concero, and as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Monstermoving.com, Inc., where in addition to her former company, Virtual Relocation.com, she acquired five companies to form the Monstermoving group. She helped co-found Virtual Relocation in 1998 which was sold to Monster, Inc. (NASDAQ:MNST) in May 2000 for $80 million. 

Miller holds a BS in Business Administration with honors from Portland State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jeff Sinclair, Vice President of Sales

Jeff Sinclair is a founding member of PacStar. It was through Mr. Sinclair’s pioneering sales work in Asia, developing relationships with key military commands for TransPacific’s distribution business, that the market opportunity for PacStar emerged. Mr. Sinclair worked at TransPacific from 1992 through 2000. He relocated to Asia in 1993 and served as an account executive with new business development responsibilities. During this assignment Mr. Sinclair developed valuable military relationships and knowledge of contracting requirements with primary contractors, the military, and other government organizations.

With the spin-off of PacStar, Mr. Sinclair dramatically expanded the sales efforts, opening offices in Korea, California, Texas, Washington, DC, Germany, and Dubai. He managed sales growth for PacStar from zero to almost $50 million dollars per year (2004). He is an expert in US government contract administration, military sales, and sales management.

Mr. Sinclair holds a BS in biology from Pacific University.
